Study of Predictive Modeling applications in Managed Health Plans to be published.

The study, by Ian Duncan, Henry Dove, Ph.D. and Arthur Robb, Ph.D., will be published in the peer-reviewed journal, the American Journal of Managed Care (May, 2003). A requirement for population risk management in a health plan is the ability to stratify and target members for services. Health plans usually focus on current high-cost members, excluding those who are risk of becoming high cost in the future. We discuss an approach to identifying current low-cost members at risk of becoming high-cost consumers, and report some results from a specific model.
